Up and Coming: Named after the First Nations village of Hochelaga encountered in 1535-1536 by the explorer Jacques Cartier, this neighbourhood at one time was believed to be the location of the prehistoric village. Despite being one of the poorest areas of the city, the district of 25,2 square kilometers is considered an up and coming one, with immigrants' creating new businesses.

Ethnic Montreal: The borough of Rosemont-Petite Patrie includes the neighbourhoods of the Petite Patrie, comprising several "ethnic" neighbourhoods such as Little Italy; Rosemont; and Nouveau Rosemont. Important features of the borough include the Jean-Talon Market, the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, and Maisonneuve Park (including the Insectarium and Montreal Botanical Garden).
