Beginnings: Old Montreal (French: Vieux-Montréal) is the oldest area in the city of Montreal, dating back to New France. Following recent amendments, the district has been expanded slightly to include the rue des Soeurs Grises in the west, Saint Antoine St. in the north and Saint Hubert Street in the east. It also includes the Old Port of Montreal. Most of Old Montreal was declared an historic district in 1964 by the Ministère des Affaires culturelles du Québec.

Wealthy Montreal: Westmount is mostly a wealthy residential area, containing schools, an arena, a pool, a public library and a number of parks. The city operates its own electricity distribution company Westmount Light & Power (Hydro Westmount). The city is also the location of three Canadian Forces Primary Reserves : 34 Combat Engineer Regiment, The Royal Montreal Regiment and 34th Signals Regiment.

Middle of it all: The Centre Ville is the heart of Montreal. Restaurants, galleries, universities, it's an ever-busy area but for residents, there is no place better than the centre of the city. For tourists, this is where you'll find the majority of the action. Come and have a lovely time! This forum contains McGill University.

Grandescunt Aucta Labore: By work, all things increase and grow. The motto of the oldest English-language institution in Montreal gives a stately presence to one of the country's oldest higher education institutions. Home to many prestigious programs in medicine, law, architecture, etc, the school is a top notch institution. Also of note is that it was hailed as one of North America's top ten party schools by Playboy Magazine.

McGill Residence: As much of McGill's undergraduate student population comes from out of province, McGill has several residences to welcome students. Douglas Hall is one of the best known. The building is divided into 8 houses, all of which can be accessed through a common courtyard, or internally via the underground 'tunnel.' Each house has single and/or double occupancy rooms. Most single rooms are arranged in a suite with three bedrooms sharing a common living area.
